NEWSLETTER No1 [21st Feb 2011]

With the complete support from the General Committee, Officers and our Master Michael Thompson it has been decided to form a supporters group with the prime objective of:-

‘Assisting the General Committee to increase the income from a variety of fund raising activities and to organise social events/activities which generate further income, as well as providing enjoyable functions for existing and new supporters.’

At a supporter’s group meeting on 16th February 2011 it was agreed to select a chairperson and secretary and David Kendall with Emma Scott were appointed.

The working group have been present at 2 meetings and are currently working on a series of events/activities from a selection of 46 ideas which were originally proposed at our first meeting on 24th Jan 2011.

The first event which was already being planned is an end of season dance at Threlkeld Village Hall on Saturday 12th March 2011, dancing to Rue and the Rockets --- Tickets from Kathleen Stevens at £6-00p

A quiz --- with results on 12th March at the Kennels coffee morning, our last meet ---Sheila Ferret

We would like to hear from anyone who would be interested in joining the existing 200 club as membership can be increased from Sept/Oct. The 200 club is a monthly draw with 8 prizes per month at a cost of £12 per year.

Other events being planned:-

Lunches --- based at local village halls --delicious food and good company

Duck race – planned for Sunday 19th June 2011 to be confirmed Gill Mawson --linked to a picnic

Race night --- Gary Todhunter

Guess the hound’s name---Feb/March – Margery Mattinson

Hound sponsorship ---Sept – Diane Todhunter

Future events around school ½ terms in Oct 2011/Feb 2012 when many visitors attend our meets.

The Blencathra Foxhounds web site www.blencathrafoxhounds.com will have an update on events/activities but we would also like to distribute newsletters via e-mails as a cost effective way of communications.

If you would like to be on an e-mail list please forward your e-mail to either myself or Emma at the above e-mail addresses.

Anyone interested in helping with events or being part of the supporters group would be most welcome at our next meeting on Tuesday 15th March 2011 at 7-30pm Threlkeld Cricket Club.
