Blencathra Country

The Blencathra area extends to approximately 300 Sq.miles. It has at its centre Keswick town and radiates out from there to all the valleys and fells in all four directions.

Its main activities however are centered on the Skiddaw massif which includes the Caldbeck and Uldale fells, Blencathra and the Mungrisdale fells,Lonscale and Skiddaw mountain itself.

The boundary of Blencathra country extends from Caldbeck in the north to the summits of Helvellyn, Dunmail Raise, Steel Fell and High Raise.

It continues through Angle Tarn and Esk Hause to Scafell Pike, Great Gable and the top of Honister Pass. From there the boundary goes over Dale Head, Robinson, Newlands Hause, Eel Crag and Grisedale Pike, crossing Bassenthwaite Lake to Scarness, Orthwaite, Uldale and back to Caldbeck.

The Blencathra's activity is conducted in some of the most spectacular country in Britain.
